Tuesday Tent Troubles

As you may or may not know, whee have lots of snuggly tents, cardboard boxes and cosies for when whee play in the garden. Unfortunately there is only one that I like and it also happens to be Basil’s favourite. He will happily snuggle most things but I’m sure he goes in this one to annoy me.

So yesterday, when whee were enjoying a lovely evening run, I got my revenge!

I would say it’s not what it looks like . . . but it is. (apologies for blurry pigtures these were taken on Mummy’s phone) Basil had made himself comfy inside MY tent.

So I huffed . . .

And I puffed . . .

And I sat on top of it till he got out!

Who says whee piggies don’t have a sense of humor eh!? Anyway a few bits and bobs before whee end this post. Firstly, the sad news. There have been two terrible losses in the guinea pig world recently. First was Peaches who left for the Rainbow Bridge on Friday 20th. Whee cannot put into words how much whee feel for Sandra who was a wonderful cavy slave to her. Please pop over and leave a message to let Sandra know you are thinking of her. Also, if it weren’t for Peaches, another piggy Snuggles would not have had her tumor discovered. So Peaches last, and most memorable to us, act in this world was saving the life of her cage mate. What could be a greater thing than that?

The second loss was Ariel from Princess Guinea and Ariel who sadly passed away yesterday. She was a bootiful piggy and one of my Buddy’s Babes club. Whee know that her hoomans are heart broken at the loss of such a wonderful little piggy so please pop of and leave some words of comfort for them.

They say “sometimes loss makes you stronger”, but sometimes loss is just loss, and it hurts ~ Anon

Now for some slightly happier news, whee are the proud recipients of two awards. Though whee have received both before whee felt they deserved a mention. To get something once is an honor, to be thought of twice by different furfriends is humbling. Thank you The Cat on My Head for The Wonderful Team Member Leadership Award . And thank you to Review Books and More for the Shine On Award. Please check out both blogs if you haven’t already! ^_^

So much happy and sad feelings, what a topsy turvy Tuesday. Please have a lovely day efurryone

  1. Sorry to hear of another piggy loss 😦 huge hugs xx

  2. Hi Buddy…..well firstly so sorry to hear about the lady cavies who have gone to the Bridge…..we always get very sad hearing about our friends who go over the Bridge but it helps knowing we will see them again one day……sigh…..Anyway, it looks like you made your feelings about Basil invading your tent known in a cute way – popping up on the tent and squishing him out of there is a good way to say “WATCH OUT BUDDY – THIS IS MY SPOT!!”……..I’m sure it’s all in good fun but perhaps he got the message???!!!

    Kitty Hugs, Sammy

  3. Sitting on the tent is a good strategy! It’s kind of like sitting inside, I guess. It still says, “Mine! Mine! Mine!” in case anypiggie was wondering. Condolences on the lost friends. 😦

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  4. Oh Buddy so sorry for the loss of more precious and irreplaceable friends…it is a double edged sword being hoomans who have pets we all feel each others pain.Congrats on nominations for awards that is a lovely treat even if you have them as you say it’s the thought that really really matters and as for the big tent kerfuffle hahahhahaha well played sweet one…..advantage paid to Buddy! HUgs Fozziemum xx

    • I’m pretty clever. Mummy says I might be the cleverest of us piggies. Basil would have just charged in and tried to chase me out. Noah would have squeaked till someone came and did it for him and Nacho would find somewhere else to sleep. Me? I planned a way to get him out and carried it through till I got my spot back!

      • That sure is clever Buddy!! heheheh 🙂 xxxx

      • Thank you! I try. Revenge is sweet. Hehehe

        Have a great Tuesday

        xxxx

      • Oh that it is Buddy hahahahaah you have a great Tuesday ours is nearly over 😉 xxxx Fozziemum

      • Who says Noah’s plan isn’t also clever? Fastest way is always to have a cavy slave do it for you.

      • Noah is pretty clever. If he can’t do something he wheeks for the hoomans. Wants to get out of the run, wheek for hooman. Wants veggies, wheek for hooman. Want anything, the hooman will fetch it! ^_^

        xxxx

      • Is there any other way to train a human?

Oddly, Felix was sick and having every need attended to when I brought home Eleanor, so Eleanor never really wheeked much. Wentworth never needed to, and he was an only pig. They knew all they needed to do was stand up on the side of the cage to get my attention (they’ve lived ON my bed most of their lives).

        And then there was Annie…

All I know about Annie is she had a good mama, must’ve had siblings, and was very properly socialized to know what humans are good for. Cavies don’t wheek to each other except for the alarm call. “I am a lost baby” is very similar to what they use on us.

Annie brought wheeking into this house, and there hasn’t been a dull (or quiet) day since. 😉

Harville takes wheeking to another level though. His wheek is the “I am in pain and you are killing me” wheek.

      • Honestly, you’d think Noah was being killed half the time the way he squeaks! You go running over to see what’s wrong and find Nacho has taken up residence in the veggie bowl and Noah wants him out!

Wouldn’t have it any other way though ^_^

      • Could be another diva that boy, every diva I’ve ever had started that way.

    • Wheeks of thanks for thinking of us, Snuggles, Daisy and Cinnamon.xxx

  5. I just think of your garden as an Indiana Jones playground Buddy hehe. Congrats on the awards! The loss quote is lovely… because sometimes there are really no words to make you feel better. So stating that it hurts is just the best way. I’ll remember that one.

    • Thank you. It is a fun garden. Whee have lots of toys out there.

Whee don’t know where the quote came from. Mummy thinks her Grandma may have just made it up but it is a lovely quote and perfect illustrates our point. Telling someone it will make them stronger does nothing to acknowledge the pain or lessen it. Accepting the pain and grieving is the only way to move forwards.

      Have a lovely Tuesday

      Buddy

  6. Sitting on the tent is genius!

  7. princess guinea and ariel

    Thank you for mentioning

  8. Sorry about the loss of your friends. Congratulations on your awards. Have a terrific Tuesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  9. Oh you certainly know how to get your tent back when you want it<:) Annabelle and MollySue have a big house made from log they share and thank goodness it is big enough for both girls.
So very sad about Ariel and Peaches and we went over and left our condolenses.

  10. You are very clever. We guess you got even with Basil for taking your favorite tent. He he. Love, Cali, Andy, Tater and Shelly (C.A.T.S.)

  11. I agree, loss is just loss and it hurts (a long time). Seems that you are really the top-piggy, Buddy :o) Hope you will get no vertigo when you sit on top of the world…I mean tent :o)

  12. Sorry you already had the award…but it must be well-deserved if you get it twice. We are so sorry about the loss of your friends. Your quote is so appropriate. Finally, Buddy, good job on reclaiming your tent. Very ingenious way of going about it. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

    • It’s ok, whee love getting awards! Getting it twice? BONUS! Yay! Thank you, whee are very sad for our furfriends hoomans. They must be so upset right now.

And yep, I got my tent back, as I knew I would!

  18. So sorry for the loss of your friends…But we giggled over the trick you played 🙂

  19. Sorry to hear about your piggy friends Buddy, but congrats on you’re awards,xx Speedy

N may bee yur mum could put a room addishun on yur tent !! 🙂

  22. Whee want to thank you so much for mentioning our loss of Peaches, it means so much to all of us and mummy. Mummy says she is very happy that you said she was wonderful cavy slave, that means a lot. Snuggles wants you to know, she wasn’t just a cage mate of Peaches, she is Peaches’s sister. Daisy and Cinnamon are Snuggles’s children, making Peaches their aunty. Snuggles, Daisy and Cinnamonxxx

    • Snuggles was very special and obviously furry loved. Whee know that like any cavy slave would, your hooman is hurting. Make sure to give her extra snuggles from all of us and whee really hope Snuggles is fighting fit again soon.

      xxxx

      • Thanks. Peaches was very special and so is her sister Snuggles. Snuggles goes for a check-up later today. She has been very brave and is still enjoying eating her food.xxxx

  23. Reblogged this on quirkybooks and commented:
    Hi everyone
Snuggles, Daisy, cinnamon and myself, want to thank hutchagoodlife for this beautiful tribute to Peaches, who died on Friday 20th of September.

I was thrilled to be called a “wonderful cavy slave” that means a lot. To avoid any confusion, Snuggles wasn’t just a cage mate of Peaches, she is Peaches’s sister. Peaches was aunty to Daisy and cinnamon who are my other two guineapigs and Snuggles’s siblings.

I miss Peaches tons but Snuggles is being so brave after having had a tumor removed, thanks to Peaches, that I feel I must be brave too.

Thanks to everyone for their kind comments and support at this incredibly difficult and sad time.

    Write soon
    Sandra
