Saturday Stay Bowl Review
So you may or may not know but Buddy has a very naughty habit of tipping the food bowl over and throwing it all over the cage. Not only is this messy and means the cages needs cleaning out more reguarly but also, Basil doesn’t like eating food that has been on the floor so he has been going hungry.
I have searched and search for a solution and I have found it in the Stay Bowl! Initially it sounded like a bit of a gimmick. A bowl that is tip proof? Sure…
But for $9.95 (which roughly £6.80) where was the harm in giving it a try?
So it didn’t take too long and arrived with a lovely note.
The size was good. A lot of people tend to over feed their piggies but these bowls allow for good portion control. So I filled it up, put it in and kept my fingers crossed!
Buddy had a good go a trying to bite the edges and tip it over. At one point a worried Basil stepped on it to keep it in place!
But true to it’s promise the stay bowl, stayed upright!
So what are my thoughts?
Price: Great, pretty much the same price a good quality normal bowl
Appearance: The blue was great and matches their cage. It actually holds more than it looks and can contain the perfect portion size.
Thoughts: It actually works! It’s been four days since we started using the stay bowl and so far no spills or messes made!
Rating: 10 paws up out of 10!
Buddy disagrees and wants to give it a much lower rating…
I guess he’s going to have to find another naughty habit to wind us all up!
Have you got a product that you love that solved a problem for you? Any products you’d recommend for piggies?
Have a great Saturday
Hooman

Pushy Piggy!
So yesterday the hooman asked you to take guesses at what I had been up to the previous evening that was so naughty. Plenty of you had brilliant ideas but no one guessed exactly the mischeif fun I had.
Now I don’t know about you but sometimes I like to pretend to be a hooman. So that night instead of cuddling in my usual spot on Mummy’s lap, I climbed off onto the sofa next to her. She said I was looking extra cute as I snuffled around the cushions. I lay down and stretched myself out to my full length as I’d seen the hooman do before when she wanted to claim a sofa as her own.
Then I realised I was at a slight height disadvantage! So I gently “encouraged” Mummy to get up.
“Now that’s not quite how it happened Basil-“
She was quite happy to move onto the floor and make way for me after a few gentle nudges…
“I think you’ll find I wasn’t that happy about-“
She got up and sat on the comfy floor. The other hoomans were quite accepting of my human dominance also.
“Well with you rumbling, biting my clothes and trying to dig your nose under me and flick up, I didn’t really have much choice! Plus you tried to nip anyone who wanted to sit down on the sofa near you, even though there was plenty of room!”
I don’t know what you are talking about hooman, I was furry comfortable!
Does anyone else like to pretend to be something else once in awhile? What are you up to today?
Happy Thursday!

So it’s been 4 years…
Not four years since you last heard from us of course, but 4 years since we started our blog. WordPress emailed the hooman to remind us today and it inspired us to come back…again!
This has to be the third or fourth attempt at a comeback that whee have made but whee are giving it another go. (Bear with us, the hooman is not good at this malarky!)
Not much new has happened since our last blog. Noah is fully healed up and the naughtiest little piggy you’ve ever met, but more on that later. Nacho has discovered a fondness for apples which means his squeaks like crazy when someone is eating one. Buddy is on another diet and exercise plan after stealing Basil’s food portions on the sly and putting on a bit of weight! Basil is being extra sweet, having even tried to make friends with a cat who visits our garden through the back door.
But anyway, back to our four year “blogoversary”. Here are some of our favourite photos from these rollercoaster years of happy, sad and funny times.
Whee hope you have all been well and aim to catch up with everyone over the next few days
Squeak soon

Can’t Be Comfy
Mummy has a habit of saying this. She frowns and looks us up and down. Then she shakes her head. “You can’t be comfy like that!”
Well I have news for you Mummy! I am comfy like that! In the first pigture below I was cuddling the hooman when a loud noise startled me and I jumped. Turned out it was Mummy’s Mum encountering a spider! Then I was looking at the door really suspiciously in case anymore noisy hoomans were coming. The other two pigtures were when Nutty had just taken his meds and Mummy said I could join him but I got lazy half way!
Do you have a funny position that you find comfy but looks weird?
Have a great Friday efurryone

Tasty Treat Tuesday (Burgess Excel Square Snack Review)
Firstly whee were not sent these or given anything for this review. Mummy just picked up some treats she thought whee might like and they went down so well she said whee can post about them!
The Treat – Burgess Excel Carrot and Banana Square Snacks
The Packaging – A brown and yellow box with clear front panel to show the treats. Looks interesting and caught the hoomans eye.
The Boring Hoomans Bit – Made up of hay, carrots, beetroot and banana. Nothing to worry about unlike many treats which are marketed at guinea pigs.
How Much? – These cost Mummy £2.50 in a local pet shop though whee suspect prices vary in different places.
The Look – A small unsurprisingly square snack. Not sure if it had anything to do with the little hooman dropping the packet on the way home but quite crumbly and very few whole pieces. Looks like hay and dried herbs compressed together.
The Smell – No real smell. A vague smell of hay but nothing to overpowering or awful.
The Taste Test – After a suspicious sniff whee all tried one. Whee all really enjoyed them and wanted more!
Final Verdict – These are great little treats for us piggies. However, they are quite delicate. When whee munched them they broke into little pieces and when whee came to the bars to beg for more, Mummy noticed a small pile of bits and crumbs from it. So they were pretty messy.
Whee give this 4/5. If the treats held together better and were less messy whee would say these were perfect!
What’s your favourite treat?
Happy Tuesday

Monday Musings
Hello Monday our old furfriend. Why did you have to come back again?!
Well this Monday whee want to tell you about some furry interesting things involving us piggies and the art world!
With our pretty furs and general cuteness, is it any wonder guinea pigs have been the muses of artists for many years.
Have you ever seen the first ever recorded painting of a guinea pig? How old do you think it is? 50 years old? 100 years old? Try 16th Century, around 433 years ago!
“The portrait, believed to have been painted around 1580 by an unknown artist, shows three young children holding the animal which had recently been introduced into Europe from South America by Spanish merchants.”
The little known painting of three Elizabethan children is believed to be the first portrait of a guinea pig as a pet! The little hoomans are disappointed that theirs are 433 years too late! It has been uncovered by the National Portrait Gallery in London, during the making of its exhibition Elizabeth I and Her People.
No one knows who the children are, but whee are more concerned about who this clear VIP (Very Impawtent Piggy) is! With it’s beige, brown and white fur and regal bearing whee wonder, could it be the first piggy ever brought to England as a gift for Elizabeth I as a child?!
After she received one, they became popular exotic pets with children here and would be brought back as gifts when travelling. They were believed to be bred as curiosity pets, exotics if you will. Whee are still classed as exotic pets today when whee want to visit the vet so times haven’t changed all that much!
However that is not the only piggy portrait whee know of. The below Flemish painting, dated 1615 shows a pair of domesticated guinea pigs. (look just in front of the horse!) The painting by Jan Brueghel the Elder and is part of the Stapleton Collection/Corbis.
A slightly later portrait of a girl with a guinea pig from 1677 by Caspar Netscher is part of the Royal Collection.
Though science can estimate times and historians can guess at dates, no one knows for sure the dates whee arrived on these shores.
One thing is for sure though; when this exhibition is open (10 October 2013 – 5 January 2014) Mummy will head over there to have a look for herself!
Happy Monday

Please pop over and let him know you hope he is all better soon. However Speedy’s girlbun Maddy isn’t furry well and she needs healing wheeks and whiffles. Please send her lots of blogoville healing love, whee have our paws crossed for both of them.
Seriously Weird Searches Saturday . . .
Well Mummy was having a little look at her stats to see what people are searching for that brings them here.
The great part is, the majority are searching the blog name and finding us. Other searches include “help, my guinea pig has heat stroke” “my guinea pig is sick, what should i do” “guinea pig first aid kit” “homemade guinea pig toys” “what to give bored guinea pigs” and “try to stay mad at these adorable faces”
All very cute and normal, but then there are some strange one’s that made Mummy pull faces and wonder how on Earth they ended up here!
A few of our favourites include:
“if men had tails like dogs do name something that would cause them to wag“ – But hoomans don’t has tails . . . I suppose they would wag if they saw a cute piggy though.
“i just smile becuase [sic] i have no idea what you are saying pics“ – Often whee don’t know what the hoomans are on about. They say you should humor the insane though!
“mummy pumpkins“ – Daddy pumpkins, Auntie pumpkins, Uncle pumpkins and baby pumpkins?
“i like pig butts and i can not lie“ – Those skinny piggies can’t deny!
“how to prevent a deck from being slick when wet“ – What . . . ? Just what?! Put some hay on it whee guess.
“disney crows shoe fly“ – Erm. Well whee like the Disney bit but you lost us after that!
“why piggy not happy“ – Because hooman no make good grammar right.
“guenea[sic] pig addiction to basil“ – That’s easy to understand, I’m addicted to me too ~Basil
“please may i“ – May you what? Dance a jig for our entertainment? Certainly.
“little rodent like creature with face like pig“ – Nope, whee got no idea what that could be . . .
“doing nothing mission accomplished“ – *cough* Our every day plan *cough*
“look into my eyes you will see tumblr“ – *squints* Nope, whee just see eyes. No Tumblr in there
“whoever says they slept lik [sic] a baby obvioysly[sic] dlesnt[sic] have one“ – Well that’s not at all bitter! Lack of sleep impairs one’s ability to type (Mummy feels for you!)
“babes bauddy[sic]“ – Can’t decide if they are searching for Buddy’s Babes or something else entirely and really can’t spell!
“amazing feet awards“ – Whee do have nice feet! What do whee win?!
“how to huch[sic] a teddy real good“ – Is it just our immature Mummy sniggering or does this sound really wrong?!! ^_^
“poop through feathers“ – Whee don’t have feathers . . . let alone any poop through them!
“more+rounded”.+skinny+girls+are+good+as+ramp+models+but“ – You really didn’t plan to end up on a guinea pig blog did you my friend?!
“why is it i have no idea on what’s going on around“ – Whee ask ourselves the very same thing. One of life’s mysteries whee suppose!
“a song that says it’s like bing bing bing bing it’s like woo woo woo woo“ – Whee don’t know it but it makes us wanna dance!
“santa tells me if i’m nutty or nice“ – I’m Nutty and nice . . . s’all good! ~Nutty
“as charming as you are, you are unlikely ever to receive a better valentine“ – Wow, harsh. How did that get you to us? Should whee be insulted?!
