Thank you so much efurryone for making my Birthday so special yesterday! Now you may remember, to celebrate whee decided to make a special parcel donation to a rescue in honour of the three years I’ve lived. Whee asked for our furfriends to dress up as Pirates and Princesses so whee could have a contest!
Here’s a reminder of the great entries!
Now it was a close thing but whee have a winner!
Sailor Pirate Sage!
Thank you so much efurryone for making my Birthday special. Whee are going to ask the lovely Sage from Savannah’s Paw Tracks to pick a UK rescue for us to send a Birthday bundle to share amongst the animals less fortunate than us.
Happy Monday efurryone
You may remember our Don’t Parsley Me By Pigture Contest whee ran over the course of last wheek. Well after much thought and deliberation whee have finally picked our winners and created the video. Frankly you are all winners, you have found such wonderful homes after awful starts and whee couldn’t be happier for you.
However our winner and opening our video is the gorgeous Kaci from kylascott:
Our runner up, and closing our video, is Donna from weliveinaflat showing that coming from a broken home doesn’t mean you have to stay broken hearted.
So remember, don’t parsley those rescue pets by. Give them a second chance and you won’t be disappointed ^_^
Please share this and get hoomans to think rescue when looking for a pet.
Happy Monday efurryone

ps. Two kitties desperate for a loving home need our help. Don’t parsley them by . . .
One Eye On The Future – Their foster sisfur’s blog
Hiya efurryone. Firstly you haven’t heard from us two for awhile but here whee are enjoying parsley in the garden today:
This leads neatly onto our new contest. Don’t Parsley Me By. Mummy has decided she needs something as a distraction for her and what better way to keep her busy than with a pigture contest!
Whee would like you to all send us your pigtures of your rescue pets. Whether you adopted them from an official rescue (or shelter), took them from a bad home or situation or saved them from a terrible fate. Whee would like you to send their pigtures with a line about what they came from. The pigture can be of them looking pleading or really enjoying their new homes. (Sorry for anyfurry who doesn’t have a rescue pet, whee will have other pigture contests soon) If you don’t have a rescue pet you can send us a pigture of your pet campaigning for animals in rescues (be as inventive as you like!)
This was inspired by Mummy hearing a song that made her think of rescue pets. The song is called Lonely No More by Clay Aiken. What whee would like to do is, collect as many as whee can and put them into a video to this song to raise awareness of animals in need.
You can send your pigtures to us at email@example.com or tweet them to us @HutchAGoodLife (afraid whee aren’t too savvy with other social networks just yet so just these this time!) Please use the subject title “Don’t Parsley Me By Contest” for email entries and mention the contest in tweets.
The closing date is Thursday 12th September at 1pm (GMT aka UK time) Please spread the word, whee want to get as many hoomans and furries involved as possible. If you have more than one rescue pet you can enter a maximum of three pigtures (all must be of different pets).
Depending on how many entries, whee hope to be able to include efurryone! The pigture that is the overall winner will be the opening pigture for the video and the runner up will be the closing pigture.
So hoomans get snapping and pets get posing.
Whee can’t wait to see your entries! Happy Friday
Buddy & Basil
There is something special which whee are reminded of in times of need. This blogosphere is a family. A family who pull together and create miracles when one of them is in need.
There is a kitty in need right now. If you aren’t familiar with Leo’s story – just visit our previous post where whee mention him or Savannah’s blog and take a look to see how much her foster bro-fur is going through. Leo is a very sick cat and Savannah’s pawrents are footing most of the vet bills while the cat charity he is from is trying to raise funds.
However a furry kind furry is creating one of the aforementioned miracles in doing a big Auction and Raffle thingy to raise money. To see the posts about how you can help see Mollie’s blog here and how to buy raffle tickets here. As this is quite a lot for one person to handle Misaki is also helping out and you can donate and buy raffle tickets there too.
If you can donate something or buy a ticket then please hop over there. All donations need to be told to Mollie or Misaki by Friday 17th. The Auction with take place on Monday 20th and raffle winners will be announced on Wednesday 22nd.
So please, if you can, help do! There is no better cause than family.

ps. Whee dedicate this song to Savvy, Leo and their pawrents . . .
Whee don’t often (see, ever!) ask for favours involving money but whee would very much appreciate if you could visit this page on the blog of our furfriend Savannah, on Savannah Paw Tracks. Her pawrents are foster caring for a cat charity and they have taken on the care of a very unwell kitty called Leo. Leo needs a lots of vet treatment which of course costs money. On the linked page you can see how to help and donate. They would so appreciate it. However much you can give will help.
It’s times like this whee remember how truly fortunate whee are and it also reminds Mummy to add to what she has nicknamed the ‘CC’ fund. (Cavy Curing Fund)
Illness, disease and accidents can strike at any time and all pet owners should have insurance or some money set aside to cover this. Too many times you read of very sick animals being given to shelters because the owner couldn’t not afford, or did not seek veterinary care quickly enough.
Now in comparison to most other pets whee are relatively cheap to treat when ill but if it is something serious (and with us it really is all-or-nothing!) then investigations to find the best course of action can be expensive. Just because whee are small and sometimes cruelly thought of as easily replaceable does not mean we are not entitled to care when sick. People are far to quick to give up. One vet trip, oh I’ll try some antibiotics . . . end of course and nothing has changed and they don’t go back. Why? What makes us less worthy?
This is a rant whee often have. If your animal is sick you get treatment whether they are horse or stick insect. Otherwise it is cruelty and illegal.
Right we went off on a tangent there but it really bugs us. Anywho, please visit Savvy’s blog and help her pawrents help her foster brother.
Also please give us your views on setting money aside and lack of love for small furries when sick.

ps. Buddy has been up to mischief today which whee will tell you all about tomorrow!
When whee heard about this blog hop run by our furfriends Dogs n Paws, whee just had to take part and urge you to do so too. Whee want to highlight the plight of piggies at a local rescue. Anim-Mates is our favourite animal rescue ever. The work they do is simply amazing.
Here are the piggies seeking homes at the time of writing this post:
If you are looking please consider these lovelies.

When she made no move to do the normal hooman thing of going to the toilet I examined her movements more closely and realised she was dancing. Strange though it was I squeaked at her to explain herself. She picked me up (I had been running around the living room enjoying floor time) and began to explain.
All over the world there are animals who do not have and will not have a safe, loving home this Pigmass. Whee cannot help all of them or take all of them in (no matter how much whee might want to!) but whee can do a little something for a few guinea pigs in a UK rescue thanks to a wonderful idea run by some incredibly kind and generous individuals on a guinea pig forum whee adore. Secret Santa.
The idea is this: you send your name and say you would like to be paired up with a piggy (unfortunately it is all closed up now but whee managed to enter in time!) then you wait for them to pair you up! Today Mummy recieved the message saying which piggies whee were paired with.
They do include this:
“Please note: secret santas are anononmous! so don’t tell anyone! ”
Sorry guys but whee cannot reveal our piggies! Suffice to say whee did a little research and they are bootiful!
Mummy says she will shop for them tomorrow and she cannot wait. Whee have reminded her not to forget us! I did point out that the piggies are gorgeous . . . And I am gorgeous . . . And who wouldn’t want to unwrap me on Pigmass morning but she loves me to much to give me away, even for a good cause. *sigh* Sorry Ladies (and/or Gentlepigs!), I tried!
Now you are out of time to join in this secret santa but whee do have a little plan to help spread Pigmass cheer.
Why not find out where your local shelter is and see what they need. Blankets, towels, shampoos and toys are almosts always welcome. Then get your hooman to do a little Pigmass shopping and package up whatever you can get. After that you can write a little note or use this one:
There is ice on the ground,
And a chill in the air,
But luckily for you,
We have warmth to spare.
It may not be much,
But I hope it brightens up your day,
And makes lives better this Christmas,
That’s all I hope and I pray.
Tuck that in and send it on it’s way. You may not recieve any thanks. In fact if you do it properly and don’t tell anyfurry then you won’t but the feeling of warm fuzzies and Pigmass cheer will make you feel ten paws tall!
So why not try it. Presents can be big or small, money or packages, whatever you can give. Make a pet’s Pigmass!
There is no excuse for abandoning a pet of any kind when there are charities, rescues and shelters who are there to help. Mummy got very annoyed today reading something about hoomans excuses for abandoning dogs. She has incorporated them all into this poem. I know whee are preaching to the animal lovers here but Mummy had to share.
It just makes us grateful to have a safe home and a hooman to snuggle.

ps. Sorry it is a bit of a downer on our usual posts
Found myself on the street today,
I was cold and confused,
But this is what ma hooman did say ;
I’ve been too busy to walk you,
Look at the mess you’ve made,
You’re right in the way,
Forget those puppy games we played.
You are too big for cuddles,
You don’t match the setee,
I don’t care if you’re starving,
Even though you’re relying on me.
The kids don’t want to walk you,
And you slobbered on my friend,
And your pitiful whining ,
Is driving me round the bend.
You are far more expensive,
Than I first expected,
If all dogs cost as much as you ,
Then I’m not surprised they’re rejected.
You don’t fetch the paper,
Or come when I call,
And no matter what I shout,
You never give back the ball.
So what if I never trained you,
I thought you just knew these things,
You’re not man’s best friend,
Or the companions of Kings.
You howl in the evenings,
And when I watch TV,
And you seem to always sniffle,
With some chronic allergy.
I never thought you’d be hard work,
When you were little and sweet,
Now I’m kicking you out,
Cos’ you get under my feet.
And I sit,
On the street corner,
In the very way he’d always shout,
And watch, the other hoomans,
All milling about.
For my Master,
For a thousand years and a day,
He’ll come back for me, I pray.
