A sad update
Dear furfriends
It is my very sad duty to inform you of the passing of two of our beloved hutch residents.
Basil passed in late July after a short bout of illness which began with excessive drinking. At the vet they discovered a small lump on his neck and a UTI. The specialist we were then referred to recommended surgery to remove the lump which we went ahead with. Sadly Basil did not recover well afterwards and passed away, two days later in my arms.
In September our gorgeous Buddy also passed over the Rainbow Bridge. He was quiet after losing his best friend and we were in the process of discussing getting him a companion. However we came down one morning to find him quieter than usual. The little hoomans helped monitor him throughout the day but he did not improve with hand feeding and I rushed him to the vets that evening. He was given fluid injections under the skin but they weren’t sure what was wrong. Despite being fed every three hours through the night he passed away in the early hours of the following morning.
I’m so sorry I cannot bring happier news. I am however looking to start blogging again this week so felt I needed to update you first.
Nacho and Noah are happy and well with plenty of stories to share with you soon.
I hope you have all been well and any news you can share about the time we have missed with you all is not as sad as my own.

It’s been a long healing process but we are finally able to remember the good times and they are only slightly tainted by sadness. They are some days worse than others but we are hoping to continue the blog as a legacy to them both.

So sorry 😦 I lost my little boy piggie about four years ago this week and I still miss him. Hope Noah and Nacho are ok and keeping your spirits up.
Thank you. It does get easier to remember them without pain but you never forget them and their pigsonalities!
Nacho and Noah are very good at helping me focus on the now to distract myself by squeaking loudly and getting into mischief!

RIP little friends. We will miss both the boys and will say prayers that your family can heal from this loss. Buddy was Cupcake’s significant other for a short while. Good times….
Whee know and their is no one else whee would rather have in the family than Cupcake as whee all recover from this loss together. She made Buddy popcorningly happy and whee will never forget all those good time

We’ve all been through this. From what I can tell, they all lived a full life and lifespan for a pig. You couldn’t save the pigs and you can’t save yourself from that fate. In 100 years, we’ll all be at the bridge except me-I’m a parrot and will miss my friends.

We’re much better, thanks. We’ve learned how to treat Spencer’s asthma with an AeroKat! … doesn’t it sound like an exciting device? He will now sit still for his treatments so we think he realizes it has made him breathe better.
I am so sorry to hear the sad news. We recently lost both of our guinea pigs. Cinnamon had a UTI that he was unable to get over and we thought he had a stroke or heart attack. Cookie was healthy (we thought) but after showing signs of what Cinnamon was doing, we discovered that she had a bladder stone that had went into the urethra. The bladder sludge was so thick it couldn’t pass. She was scheduled for the next morning but unfortunately she passed away that night.
We feel your heartbreak and it makes us incredibly sad to hear of Buddy and Basil’s passing. You have taught us so much about guinea pigs and I felt like we knew them their whole lives.
