Why Hoomans Love Pigs!
Here is the quote which has partly inspired todays post:
“I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals.”
― Winston S. Churchill
Ok so it is not about guinea pigs exactly but use your imagination! Whee were planning on interviewing Mummy or a variety of matters but soon realised when whee get her talking about this particular matter, it can take rather a long time!
So here is a little something by our own dear hooman.
Why do I love piggies? What’s not to love?! They have the relatively low maintenance of a rodent combined with the affection, craving for human attention, and entertainment factor of a cat or dog. That is not to say they are without faults but they give such a lot of affection that sometimes even I am surprised to see.
They start off soo timid and taming them can take such a long time but when they are tame it is the best feeling in the world. The trust you can build with them and even teach them tricks. It is remarkable how clever they are. Recently there was something I read online about guinea pigs being stupid creatures and instead of getting angry at them I pittied them. Clearly the author had either not had a pet piggy or not understood the magic of having one as part of their family. Sad really. Poor foolish person. A few things I believe prove cavy intelligence include; squeaking when the fridge opens or a bag rustles and they know food is coming, returning to the cage when told, turning in a circle when offered a treat, being quiet when I am ill or upset. How can anyone say that they are not intelligent?!
I don’t know what I would do without my piggies. I think the world of them and they of me.
Why do you love your guinea pigs/cats/dogs/rabbits/horses!,?

I love my pet humans. They’re smart most of the time and I can take them out in public.
Oooo sounds like you have them well trained! What’s your secret?!

Pigs and guinea pigs really are similar!
Oink oink,

I gotta tell ya…I LOVE THIS! ““I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals.”

It is a great quote. Winston Churchill said a great many things which I love to quote. If you google it there are pages of his quotes.

Mom loves me because I am so snuggly and sweet. Also I work very hard trying to learn things from her. We love to play together.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
I bet you know lots of great tricks!

Good reasons to love piggies! My favorite thing about them is the cute noises they make. Working at the vet’s, we did make them wheek a lot though. Sorry that Nibblet is already taken for the dance! Basil would have made a great date since he’s so handsome and Nibblet is flattered that he thought of her.
Hehehe. They do make lots of entertaining noises!

🙂 awws. I never had piggies but I love reading their posts.
They are great pets and become such a part of the family. Glad to hear you like reading about them.

Awww your mom is super & we love that she loves you guys so much. We haven’t asked our mom why she loves us, I guess we just take it for granted that she does. But if we were guess, we think it is ‘cos we love her so much, so in turn she loves us…does that make sense?
Wally & Sammy
That makes a whole lot of sense. Love is something special when between animal and hoomans. It is unconditional and almost like that of a mother and child.

I here that about bunnies too a pet what ever that animal is only gives back what it is given,xx Speedys mum
If you love an animal and treat it well then you are almost guarenteed to experience that unconditional love of an animal.

What a beautiful quote and of course they are great little creatures, with so much love and intelligence to offer. I agree, I feel sorry for the person who has not had the opportunity to come to know them like you have.
Glad you agree. It does shock me how blind some people are to the possibility of understanding these special creatures.

Typist loves reading your blog, she has two guinea pigs as a child Scampi and Fips, reading your blog brings back so many happy memories for her! thank you
Glad to hear it. It is good to hear from others who love and understand guinea pigs in the same way.

I love the noises that guinea pigs make – and baby guinea pigs are so adorable!
The noises are particularly entertaining! Every wheek, squeak, purr, rumble, teeth chatter, and coo means something.

Piggies could be the best friends, because you can tell them all your secrets, your worries and your dreams – and they will keep your secrets :o)
Whee promise not to squeak to anyfurry about any secrets!
