Bingo The Brave

It is with the heaviest heart and tears in our eyes that whee must reveal something that happened today.

This will come as a shock to some of you and maybe not as much to others. Bingo has become more and more unwell the past few days but today he was really sick. Mummy called the specialist vet and the local vet then, crying, took him away.

She said he has gone to go to sleep for a very long time. Now Mummy says he lives over the Rainbow Bridge.

Yes, Bingo has passed away. Whee are still reeling from the shock.

Mummy wrote a poem about his last moments and wanted to tell efurryone how he just peacefully fell asleep.

A Piggy Mummy’s Lament

Hush little piggy,
Yes I cry,
I’m very upset,
And I can’t say why.
Hush little piggy,
Cuddle close,
This is the one thing,
I will miss the most.
Hush little piggy,
Feel no fear,
There’s no need to be afraid,
When your Mummy’s here.
Sleep little piggy,
While I cry,
It was the hardest final kindness,
But now I say “Goodbye”.
My little furbaby,
Popcorn free,
But don’t you forget,
What you meant to me.
Your cage feels empty,
Your friend’s alone,
He doesn’t understand,
You won’t be coming home.
Hush my sweetheart,
While we cry,
I’m drowning in my tears,
Like my cheeks will never dry.

Whee cannot believe this has happened and though whee know it is for the best it doesn’t make it hurt less.

RIP Bingo. In our lives for months, in our hearts forever.

Gone but not forgotten.

Yours Sorrowfully
Nibbles, Nutty & Buddy

  1. I’m so incredibly sorry xxx
RIP Bingo, hope you are eating lots of lovely veggies over rainbow bridge xx

  2. Oh I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I understand that no words can help at this point but remember that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. May God give you strength.

  3. That is sad news. I’m so sorry for your loss. Your poem made our eyes leak.

  4. Oh darlings, that is so very sad. Dear Bingo was such a handsome fellow. Look after yourselves and give your Mummy lots of kisses. xxx

  5. oh honeys, so sorry for your loss. your mum’s poem brought us to tears. doggie kisses to all :'( xxx

  6. I am so sorry. Bingo was very handsome, and we loved all of his photos and stories. He was our far-away friend, and we will miss him.

My heart goes out to all of you.

  7. I burst into tears when I just read this and I am still crying now. I can’t live without my guineapigs, they mean everything to me and I cannot tell you how much I feel your pain and wish I could bring him back well again. Even though I never met him I will miss him dearly. He has been a part of my home every night through this blog and I am so so sad about this. Your poem is a wonderful tribute to him and you are a great mum who loves her pigs dearly. I wish I could give you a hug right now. Love xxxx

    • Thank you. Honestly I just keep crying and crying. It was the hardest decision I’ve ever made. And though everyone tells me it was the right thing to do and I know it was, there is this small niggling doubt that says “Maybe given a few more days” or “There must be another medicine we haven’t tried”

I have spent the day being strong for my three younger brothers and Buddy but now I’m alone in my room and I am just sitting a crying for the life he will never get to live. Some people I know say he was just a guinea pig but that’s not true. He was a friend, a joker, a confidant, a comforter, a mischief maker and a brother. I dare people to tell me something that is all those things is just a guinea pig.

I use poems to vent emotions and that one was a pretty emotional time. I don’t want people to cry but if they feel even an ounce of what I’ve felt then they will understand it.

Thank you for your kind words. I feel a little stronger seeing that people really cared and knew him through this blog. I can look back and read the tales of what he got up to and never forget how special he was.

      xxxx

      • Guinea-pigs are one of the most precious, beautiful beings of life, they are to be treasured always. I understand how they are so much more. My guineapigs motivate me, inspire me, give my life meaning and understanding and so much more. I can live without a man in my life but never without my guineapigs. They make me truly happy and my life so complete and I love them dearly.

  8. Even though I have only known you all for a short while, my toast is getting soggy through the tears. So sorry for the loss of your mate Bingo, may he rest in peace and be pain free at the Rainbow Bridge xx

  9. I’m so sorry. Our animal families (fur, feathered, whiskered, etc) add so much joy to us and each other. The biggest problem is that they go to the rainbow ridge before us. I’m so sorry to hear Bingo has taken that path; he’s been a great spokesman for the dangers of shaving bedding. He was a teacher and friend to your family and the blogging community – it doesn’t get any better than that.

  10. Really sorry for you all. Bingo’s little friends must be very confused as well. It is such a sad and unhappy time and Bingo deserves to be remembered and cried over and we will miss his tales. It is hard to believe he isn’t still there with you.

  11. sweetest Bingo be Brave…and he was for you Mumsy, and he loved you to the end and now furrever…dry your eyes…he will wait for you at the bridge….sending comforting purrrrsss, Savannah

  12. What a beautiful tribute to Bingo. So sorry for your loss.

  13. Aww, I am so sorry. What a shock. Poor little guy…

  14. I’m very sorry for your loss.

  15. We are so so sorry… :'( All of us here are so glad to have known Bingo.
Your bootiful poem made mummeh cry. I think she’s remembering Marmalade, Pepper and Nugget. All three of those piggies will finally have the joy of knowing Bingo and will lokk after him over the rainbow bridge. And one day Poppy and I wwill join them there.
Tell your mummeh that if she ever feels sad, sshe can come over and cuddle with the big fat chubba wubba (aka me). Im verreh good at helping mummeh when she feels sad.
    Piggeh kisses,
    Clover

  16. Lots of hugs to you all this is shocking and very sad news :-( our thoughts are with you xxxxx

  17. I’m really sorry, this is very shocking indeed and saddening.
    XX

  18. We are so sorry for your loss. Animals big and small, become such a huge part of our family. Bingo will be paying in the Piggie playground in the sky and he will be making loads of new furriends and eaten lots of delicous treats. Sending our thoughts and love to your family xx00xx
    Mollie and Alfie

  19. Sending much love RIP Bingo. I am sure he is having much fun now playing and running in rainbow bridge, it is always harder on those left behind! xx

  20. Play in Peace, little Bingo. We are so so sad for your family. Mom and I will say prayers that they recover quickly.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  21. My Dearest Sweet Friends……my heart aches for all of you. Mom and I knew Bingo was poorly but not so close to the Bridge and we are so sorry for your sad loss. I know that the Rainbow Bridge is a lovely place and Bingo will keep watch over all of you from afar. It’s always very hard to lose a loved one…..but I can promise you that Bingo will always be in my heart as he is in yours. A most special and loving Sammy Hug to you three and your Mummy…….

    Love, Sammy and Pam

    • Thank you Pam and Sammy cat. Honestly whee were very shocked too. He just went downhill very quickly and it was decided to let him go peacefully rather than leave him to suffer.

Whee loved him so veru much and despite being small in stature he has left a big impression on efurryones hearts.

      xxxx

      • He certainly did….you guys were my very first guinea pig friends EVER and my Mom knew very little about piggies either so we’ve grown to love your lovely personalities and pigginess. My Mom says that the ultimate show of love is knowing and recognizing when to say goodbye…..the poem your Mum wrote was very dear. What more can we ask of our humans than for them to be able to just “know” when we have to go and to help us do that since we can’t do it for ourselves. We love you all TONS…..honestly.

        Love, Sammy (and his Mom)

      • Your gonna make us cry again! *huggles*

Whee are now focusing on the fact that Buddy is really sad and lonely and needs a friend pretty quickly as he isn’t eating or drinking much. He is worrying Mummy sick!

        xxxx

  22. We are very sad about Bingo and his family… What a sad day….

  23. Soft husky woooos,

    RA, Isis & NanĂ¼k

  24. So very sorry to hear about Bingo. With the stories he told and the comments left here, it is obvious he was the smartest, most well loved little guy. I think he may have been needed to tell his tales to all the lost little piggies over the Rainbow Bridge and to comfort them when they arrive.
Sending love to you all with wheeks, snuffles, woofs and purrs from the family in the Highlands.

  25. I am so sorry for your loss. I just started following your blog a few weeks ago and have been enjoying your furry tales so much that I went back to the very beginning to get caught up. I don’t have a guinea pig, but wish I did because of your blog. Bingo was a very special pig – so much bravery and fun wrapped up in a perfect piggie package. My thoughts are with you, Nibbles, Nutty, and Buddy

    • Thank you. Whee piggies do make great pets. That is why when you lose one you are losing part of the family. Each has a very individual pigsonality and Bingo’s was a mischevuous sparkle. Whee feel lost without him.

Hope you will continue to enjoy our blog and the new arrival whee now need to find for a very lonely grieving Buddy who has stopped eating.

      xxxx

      • I hope Buddy has started eating a little now. I just sent him some Reiki and told him how worried you are about him.

  26. We are very sorry for your loss and hope that you get through it ok. Take heart in remembering the good times.

    • Thanks to this blog whee can look back and read and remember all of the wonderful adventures and fun whee had. Though it hurts to try and look back now whee are sure that, in time, whee will find his posts a great comfort.

      xxxx

      • Yes, I can imagine that it helps the pain. And, the rest of us can read through them too, so feel better knowing that a little piece of him is with each one of us who have read the posts and enjoyed them all over the world.

  27. I am so sorry for your loss. That is the sweetest and saddest poem I have read relating to a furbaby going over the bridge.

I just found the website by chance through blogpaws and I am so very sad I did not come across it sooner to read about the amazing little guy.

Please know that he is safe and well at the Rainbow Bridge.

    • Thank you. Whee are sorry you have found us at such a sad time. Mummy is glad you were moved by her poem as she says she channeled all her emotions into it as a way to vent some of her sorrow.

Please stick around, hard as it is the world goes on and Nibbles and Nutty have only noticed sad hoomans really because they never met Bingo (apart from through bars but that doesn’t really count)

      xxxx

  28. I am so sorry my friends.

  29. Awwww this is gutting!! I cant believe it, not Bingo! :'( Im so so sorry for you,it was evident that Bingo meant so much to you and the poem was beautiful. Such touching words. I hope you are doing okay and Nibbles Nutty and Buddy aren’t too heartbroken. My love and thoughts go out to you all.
Furry cuddles and huggles. Bingo will be looking after the babies over than rainbow from here on out. xxxxxxx

    • Buddy is suffering the most. He is really subdued and lost. Mummy says she feels horrible for having to do it so soon but whee are trying to find Buddy a new friend. He is hardly eating and Mummy is frightened that whee will lose him too. :(

      xxx

  30. Such sad news! It always makes me cry when a beloved animal friend leaves us, even if I’ve never met them. Bingo was well loved and cared for; best wishes for all those he left behind.

  31. RIP little Bingo, you will be sorely missed :-(

  32. So sorry to hear. It’s one of life’s most difficult decisions and it requires much, much love. You are a good pet-parent.

  33. We are so sorry for your loss, and will keep you in our thoughts.
    — Jillian, Matt, Charlie, Lexie and Pink

  34. Oh no! I am so so sorry to read that Bingo has crossed the rainbow bridge. So many furriends going over there these days.
This is a very beautiful poem that your Mummy wrote. A beautiful way to say goodbye.
We send purrs and hugs to y’all.

  35. Theonewiththegoldfish

Hello I follow you on a different name too, but because I have a new email, I do not use the other one anymore. So sorry for your loss. Bingo was a lovley Guinea Pig and I luckely had the chance to hold him at Poppy and Clovers mums house. Such a hansome piggie. Hope he is happy over the rainbow bridge
    xxx

  36. So very sorry for your loss…

  37. What a beautifully-crafted and heartfelt poem, made my eyes leak….I’m so sorry, it must have been a heartwrenching decision for you.

  38. AWW no! I have only come to your blog for the first time today, and I see that you have suffered a bereavement. I am so sorry for your sad loss – Bingo looks like he was a great character, and I’m sure he was a fantastic friend who held a special place in your hearts…

Licks and big sniffs from Solo…

  39. Jeremy, Taylor, and I want to express our deepest condolences to your family. Your beautiful poem brought back memories of our boy, Hopper. He, too, was only in our lives for 6 months before he passed away, and making that decision to let him go before he suffered even further was the toughest thing I have ever went through. I’m crying as I write this…after over a year, the pain is still there.
I am so happy to see that there is new addition to your family! Over time, I have a feeling that your new little one will help you remember the happy times with Bingo…as Taylor did for Jeremy and me. Before Taylor, all we thought about was Hopper’s last days and all the pain he went through. Taylor has helped us come to terms with Hopper’s passing as well as bring the wonderful, happy memories of Hopper to the surface, which is what he would have wanted. We can even see some Hopper-isms in Taylor, as if his spirit is living through her. I know that Bingo is watching over Basil as well as Nibbles, Buddy, and Nutty, and that his beautiful joyful spirit will live on through them.

    • I’m sorry for your loss. It does feel like it will never stop hurting and I will never stop missing him but having Basil is a great distraction and makes it all a little more bearable.

It is a comfort to know Bingo is no longer suffering or in pain and running free over the rainbow bridge with all our lost pets and your Hopper.

      xxxx

  40. Oh, I am so sorry and your poem made me cry. But writing a poem about such an adorable little animal has got to make you feel a little better. It is a great tribute to your pet and a release for your feelings. I totally understand. Even though we know that this will happen we tend to think that our pets will live as long as us and its a shock when they go. So sorry!

  41. Oh honey…my heart just broke for you and your little furries. I am so very, very sorry. There are few things worse than losing a little sweet furry baby. My heart goes out to you and your babies. I sure hope the new fuzzy muffin is adapting well. Give all of them a kiss and nuzzle for me.
